Reading strategies – Activity 1

This is the first of a new series of games to help you provide a range of reading comprehension strategies for children learning to read.

Best played with an adult helping the child to focus on phonetics, the game will show six related images and a word. Simply press on the picture that matches the word. Get all six questions right to win a prize!

This first reading practice game covers vocabulary on animals, colours, houses and transport.

Don’t forget – reading counts! We will be adding more early reading games but in the meantime we recommend you take a look at the excellent Starfall website.
